The most effective robot hoover will mop and vacuum without needing your attention. It will leave your floors clean. Its price is surprisingly low and features that are high-end (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Be sure to inspect your robot's brushes for hair tangled and large particles and wash them if needed. Some models can also automatically empty their onboard dust bin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've tested. They have top-of-the-line motors that can produce up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the top model) they utilize smart mapping to produce precise floorplans and avoid household obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also come with a feature called carpet boost which boosts the robot's power when it spots a lot of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very good scores in our floor tests that test for bare floors and are particularly effective at cleaning pet hair. However, they do have a few flaws however, which hinder them from being our top choice. For one, the Q5's navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to become entangled in shoes and socks, and is unable to navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on a Roomba from iRobot, and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. It's also very quiet and can be used while you are at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective in mopping, as it relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on for long and don't take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle that can be emptied by itself. And, if you have to, you can switch the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its nimble navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it quick to clean and effective at dealing with larger particles such as pet hair. It also has self-emptying dustbins, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This highly efficient mop and vacuum combination makes use of advanced sensors to avoid obstacles and pet waste, and it learns your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is similar to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mop. This will help prevent cross contamination. The flex arm can be used to reach under furniture with low levels and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Professional+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During tests, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could clean an entire home and had 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a great cleaning job on different rooms and floors with various flooring types including some area carpets. Its obstacle detection was top notch and it swiftly eluded fake dog socks, turds, and bundles of cables.
It's a little more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however it offers superior suction, a dustbin on board that automatically emptys into its base, and it supports voice commands using Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can clean the floor even after it vacuums. This is a feature we haven't seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combinations.
3. IRobot Roomba X40
With a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes, this mop and robot vacuum is among the most appealing looking in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot happens to be its smartest, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum to score 100% in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, including cameras, a structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can completely autonomously refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has an intuitive mobile application interface and is compatible with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite an eerily noisy device which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.
best inexpensive robot vacuum 's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however it's going to cost you more and produce more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the line robot mop and vacuum. It has a number of advanced features that help you forget your chores. Like Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that can take charge of both mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multi-function dock that automatically empties the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, and washes and dry the mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to create the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards, although this wasn't quite 100% foolproof during our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a high suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an option known as "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a bigger home, it's worth selecting a robot that comes with zones or spot cleaning modes. This lets you inform the robot of which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For families that are busy, a recharge function and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you would expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner, picking up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad that uses a reciprocating motion, which is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a full-featured app and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The iRobot application is designed to guide you through a mapping run which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. You can use it to create cleaning schedules, plan the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also provides access to a host of features like seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It can also reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with a powerful 8000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. And you can create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums we've test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that isn't able to double as a bin for emptying.
